what services do you offer at Allan David Bespoke tailoring?
We specialize in bespoke garments & made-to-measure garments. We pride ourselves in authentic bespoke tailoring, a meticulous and time-honoured craft that exemplifies the highest standards of artistry, akin to the illustrious tailoring houses of Savile Row.

​As well as, we offer a made-to-measure line, another customizable garment option. Our MTM offers a swift turnaround, impeccable fit, luxurious selection of fabrics, and expert Italian construction. ​​
what's the difference between semi-bespoke & full-besoke?
Our Semi-Bespoke suits maintain all the essential elements of a genuine bespoke garment but also utilize more machine processes and modern construction methods to reduce the labour hours it takes to make a suit. Most of the labour is taken out of the trousers, which are entirely machined out with no hand work, while the jacket still retains a fair amount of hand work for essential tasks. There is no difference in terms of fit between the two, as all bespoke suits get an individually crafted pattern and a minimum of two in-person fittings.

Our full bespoke garments are made almost entirely by hand. Machine use is limited to areas where machine sewing is superior, such as long seams, pockets, and darts. Our Full-bespoke suits are made following the same standards and guidelines as set out by the Savile Row Bespoke Association.

what's the difference between a bespoke and mtm suit?
Our bespoke garments are entirely handmade in our Calgary workroom. Following the highest level of craftsmanship - they are constructed from scratch to your exact specifications.
Made-to-measure (MTM) garments are produced by our partner workshop in Italy. Fit adjustments are based on pre-made samples, which are then customized to suit your measurements and style preferences.

do you offer alterations on garments ?
We offer alterations to garments made by us, and sold by us.
​However, we are not an alterations shop and do not offer this service to clothing made outside of Allan David Bespoke.

Yes, we offer bespoke tailoring for women. Our made-to-measure line is currently limited to menswear.
booking & process
for my first appointment, what should I expect?
Your initial consultation includes an in-depth conversation to understand your needs, select cloth, and design your garment. Measurements and posture photos are taken to begin the tailoring process.
can I bring style & fabric inspiration?
Absolutely. Inspirational images and fabric ideas are encouraged. We can usually accommodate special fabric requests.
how many fittings are required?
BESPOKE: Minimum of two in-person fittings
MTM: One fitting at order, plus any post-delivery adjustments
do you offer rush services for bespoke or MTM garments?
Rush orders for bespoke garments may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis, depending on our current workload. For made-to-measure garments, rush service is generally available for an additional fee. Please inquire directly to confirm availability and timelines.
do you offer fittings or consultations outside
of Calgary?
At this time, all fittings are conducted in our Calgary showroom by appointment. However, we may occasionally offer trunk shows or travel fittings depending on demand. We will travel for individual orders greater than $20,000. If you're located outside of Calgary, please contact us to discuss options.

what if I gain or lose weight after my suit is made?
We can adjust your suit to accommodate changes in body size or shape. This is one of the many advantages of working with a bespoke tailor. We can always make accommodations when it comes to maintaining the perfect fit.
can you replicate the fit of a suit I already love?
To an extent, yes. While we won't create an exact replica, we can use an existing suit as a reference to achieve your ideal fit.
can you make garments for weddings or formal events?
Yes. We love creating garments for special occasions and are happy to accommodate unique requests.
do you help with styling and fabric selection?
Absolutely - Allan David personally guides you through fabric and design choices to suit your needs and lifestyle.
do you offer custom tailoring for wedding parties or group orders?
Yes, we can create garments for grooms, groomsmen, or full wedding parties. Please book early to ensure ample time for production and fittings.

In select cases, yes. We must first assess the fabric's quality and suitability for tailoring. Not all fabric are permitted.

Yes. All the mills we partner with uphold sustainable and ethical practices.
do you offer animal-free fabric options?
Yes. We offer alternatives like cotton, bamboo, linen, and select synthetics that are free from animal products.

what is the difference between a bespoke shirt and an mtm shirt?
A bespoke shirt is drafted entirely from your unique measurements and posture, with multiple fitting stages. It offers the highest level of customization in both fit and design.
A made-to-measure shirt begins with a try-on shirt, which is adjusted based on your body measurements and preferences and then produced in our partner factory.
how much do your shirts cost?
is there a minimum order for dress shirts?
Yes. For bespoke shirts, we require a minimum order of three shirts. There is no minimum for made-to-measure shirts—you're welcome to order just one.
how long does it take to receive a shirt?
BESPOKE SHIRTS: Approximately 12–16 weeks
MTM SHIRTS: Approximately 4 weeks

how many fittings are required for a shirt?
do your shirts come with removable collar stays?
Yes, most of our dress shirts include removable collar stays for longevity and versatility. However, you can opt for sewn-in collar stays if you prefer.
BESPOKE: A minimum of two fittings is required for your first shirt order to ensure the pattern is perfected. Future orders typically require no additional fittings unless your measurements change.
MTM: One fitting is done at the time of ordering using try-on samples. Post-delivery adjustments are available if needed.

why choose selvedge denim over regular denim?
Selvedge denim is denser and stronger, developing a more beautiful patina over time. It ages uniquely with wear, creating a personalized fade pattern that is distinct to each individual. It's also woven with greater attention to craftsmanship and heritage, making it ideal for those who value quality and longevity.
what is selvedge denim & how is it produced?
Selvedge denim is a premium, tightly woven denim fabric finished with a self-edge—the "selvedge"—that prevents fraying. It's produced on traditional shuttle looms and is known for its durability, character, and clean finished edge.​ Learn more about the unique history of selvedge denim here.
how should I break in raw selvedge denim?
Wear them often and wash them infrequently, especially during the first few months. This helps create natural fades and creases that reflect your individual wear pattern. After 6 months or so, you can begin gentle washing as needed.
how should I wash selvedge denim?
Hand wash or machine wash on cold with minimal detergent, inside out, and hang dry. Avoid frequent washing early on to preserve the raw finish and encourage personalized fading.
can selvedge denim jeans be altered?
Yes, to a degree. Hemming is simple, but altering the waist, seat, or thigh areas can be more complex depending on the construction. We recommend having alterations done by a tailor experienced with denim.
